 This can be a safer version than a full faced hood for horses in paddock situations.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Any headless hood on the market will and can never be as supported on the neck as a full face hood. The design features of a full face hood offer more fit and stability, however can be a risk in a paddock scenario if snagged on something and pulled over the eyes.
 
This is where a Headless Hood comes into its own in regards to safety.
 
Headless hoods are mainly in demand for covering the lower section of neck where the turnout rug joint of a combo for example, can rub a mane away.
 
Even though there may be a little movement or pull back on a headless hood, it will still cover the majority of the neck, and the section that needs to be protected.
 
The right size and fit is important with the headless hood. You want a very snug fit, as the fabric is shiny and if it is too big in the shoulder it can create more slip back than is normal, so please follow the Horzehoods specific size guide. (Click on the size guide link.)
 
If you are unsure of the size you have received, please try it on a clean horse, with swing tags still attached and you are welcome to return for another size should you require it. Just be careful not to let the velcro snag the fabric if you intend on returning the hood for a size exchange.

    Couldn’t be happier with this

    Couldn’t be happier with this skinny hood. It protects my horse’s neck, mane and shoulders from rubbing without covering his head. It’s really well made and the fittings are high quality. Perfect!

    The style is good but neck slides down

    The style is good but neck slides down the neck so only 1/2 to 2/3rds of the mane is protected. They need to make the velcro longer to tighten more around the neck

    Good quality

    I bought this skinny hood for a paddocked pony. I use the hood the night before a show to keep the plaits in place. It works well. I puchased the size S, however, my 13.3h Riding Pony has a long neck, and I feel like even though it just fits, it doesn't cover the top plait, so he could probably go up a size to the M.

    Thanks for your feedback Bija. The full faced hoods will provide better coverage, however I can understand in a paddock scenario, that this can be a more comfortable option for people. Keep in mind the Medium will be bigger around the shoulders and neck and you don't want it to be loose.

    Keeps her snug and saves on shoulder rugs

    Just slips down around her neck at times but it's def helped with adding a layer in the recent cold snap we've had too. Love the gusset feature and apart from the neck slipping down a bit the rest stays in place very well. Bought for a chucky built 16.2 OTT and XXL is great.
